Hi friends.
I’m scrapping this week’s regularly scheduled programming. Not because I have a whole lot to say or there’s an abundance of new content that needs to be covered. It’s just that sometimes the moment calls for silence and restraint, ya know?
My thoughts and prayers are with President Trump and his family - and with the family of the slain victim and the injured bystanders. May they recover fully and quickly.
This is a moment in history we’ll not forget and so in that vein I would like to take a temperature check now that we’re a little more than 24 hours past this heinous act of violence. So here’s your One Question this week: How will this affect your digital strategies moving forward - either in the short term or long term? I realize this is an incredibly open-ended question, so feel free to ramble as you like.
A few random thoughts from your Doomscroller…
I’ve been encouraged by the show of restraint on the fundraising side. No one is even sending soft asks around this (that I have seen), and that’s good.
Good on the Trump Campaign as well for pointing people to an official GoFundMe account for the victims.
The president’s statements have been pitch perfect, and kudos to his team for disseminating them on social media platforms, email, and text.
Good on the Biden campaign for pausing ads.
That’s all for this week. We’ll return to our usual programming next week. Until then, stay kind, everyone. Hug your loved ones, and say a prayer for our country.
